The Sergeants Examinations of An Garda Siochanna are held in May of each year. The Institute of Criminology at City Colleges provides the most up to date course preparation taught by the country’s leading lecturers in their area. The course is taught by a leading criminal barrister and a senior member of An Garda Siochanna. A study skills and interview expert is also part of the team. Students are taught the essential factual information but also the study skills and exam technique required for successful completion of this annual examination.

At the end of the course, on successful completion of a mock sergeants examination, students may also receive an ICM Diploma in Executive Police Management. Those whom chose not to sit the City Colleges Examination but attend at least 80% of lectures will receive a Certificate of Attendance. (One evening is also dedicated to interview techniques – essential for the sergeant interview board).
